2021 Fall Events in Denton, Texas

Updated 8/31/21: Since this blog was published, a few event committees recently announced the cancellation of their 2021 events. As of today, the cancelled events include: Industrial Street Pop Fest and Day of the Dead. Please mark your calendars for the fun in 2022 for the return of those events!

Check out these public, family-friendly fall events in Denton that are hosted by the Denton Main Street Association and other local organizations.

September

Arts & Autos | Saturday, Sept. 11th | 9am - 3pm

Join us in downtown Denton for a day of cars, music, art, food and fun. This is a free public event! There will be a car, truck and motorcycle show along with a street chalk art contest put on by local artists. With an incredible line up of fine arts and crafts vendors and demonstrations, it’s an exciting event you don’t want to miss. It’s a family-friendly event with kids’ games and crafts, live music, local business and food vendors, and a silent auction. 

There will also be a moment of silence at 9am to recognize the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Arts & Autos will begin with the presentation of the colors by the Denton HS ROTC and a remembrance of the final time stamp of the events from 9/11 at 9:28 am. Please join us at the lawn for this remembrance of the 20th anniversary.

Denton Community Market | Saturdays | 9am-1pm

Swing by every Saturday morning in September for the Denton Community Market. Located on the corner of Carroll Blvd. and Hickory St. in Denton. Most vendors accept credit card payment. Bring your own shopping tote or reusable bags! This is a dog-friendly and family-friendly event with live music. 

Dog Days of Denton | Saturday, Sept. 11th | 9am-3pm 

This original Dog Days of Denton event was created by the Denton Main Street Association in 1994 and was held in downtown Denton until 2006. It then became its own stand-alone event held in the park and fairgrounds, and now it’s back downtown at Quakertown Park benefitting the North Lakes Dog Park. The DMSA is glad to see their original event transform into a treasured Denton event. This is a free public event.

Combined with the Dog Days of Denton is the SplishSplash Doggie Bash at the Denton Civic Center Pool. Purchase V.I.Paw Tickets to bring your pups to enjoy swimming in the city pool before they drain it for the fall/winter season! This event benefits the North Lakes Dog Park

Blues Festival | Saturday Sept. 18th - Sunday Sept. 19th

The 23rd Annual Denton Blues Fest is a Denton Black Chamber of Commerce event and a longstanding Denton tradition. Enjoy live music, karaoke, arts and crafts, and more on Quakertown Park.


October

Denton Community Market | Saturdays | 9am-1pm

Swing by every Saturday morning in October for the Denton Community Market. Located on the corner of Carroll Blvd. and Hickory St. in Denton. Most vendors accept credit card payment. Bring your own shopping tote or reusable bags! This is a dog-friendly and family-friendly event with live music. 

Arts & Jazz Festival | Friday Oct. 1st - Sunday Oct 3rd 

One of Denton’s signature music events, the Arts & Jazz Festival, has been rescheduled from the spring to the fall season! The free public event held in Quakertown Park is produced by the Denton Festival Foundation, Inc. The event features seven stages of continuous music, fine art, crafts, and food, games and information booths in a beautiful, outdoor setting.

Industrial Street Pop Festival | Saturday, Oct. 9th - Postponed until 2022

The Industrial Street Pop Festival, a.k.a. Geezerpalooza, is a Denton original event that will feature several tribute bands with music from the 60s through the 70s. Industrial Street is closed off for attendees to bring their lawn chairs and sit and listen to some live music all day. Some vendors are on site and the surrounding restaurants are open to enjoy some tastes of downtown while at the festival.

Downtown Denton Halloween | Thursday, Oct. 28th | 6pm - 8pm

Denton County is hosting the family-friendly Downtown Denton Halloween event. Details TBD.

Denton Day of Dead Festival | Saturday, Oct. 30th | 11am - 5pm - Postponed until 2022

The Denton Day of the Dead Festival is a free family-friendly event held outdoors on E. Hickory and Industrial Street. These streets will be blocked off to traffic to keep pedestrians safe to freely roam around the event parameters. Celebrate the season filled with Halloween and Dia de los Muertos fun. And don’t miss the famous coffin races!


November

Holiday Open House | Saturday, November 13th 

This year’s Holiday Open House will be a cross-promotional event supporting the collective downtown Denton business district.

Shop Small Saturday | Saturday, November 27th
