Redefining the Standards
After working at two other digital marketing agencies in his 30’s, Damon Gochneaur wasn’t pleased with the working environment and overall experience — even as one of the hardest-working, highest-performing employees who helped them build a book of business in SEO and PPC clients. He dreamed of creating a place that put employee needs on the same level as client needs.
Damon started Aspiro Agency in 2014 for two reasons: to fill the gap that wasn’t being met in the marketing agency industry for prioritizing employees, and as a function of need.
After being laid off for the second time in 24 months, Damon wanted to try and take more control of his family’s financial future. With three children under the age of 5 at the time, his main goal was to make enough money to keep his wife happy and provide for his kids with decent childhoods. So he gave himself 6 months with a specific revenue target, and took a chance on himself to accomplish the challenge. Within the first 3 months, he hit those revenue targets and by month 6, hired his first employee.
As far as prioritizing employees, that meant allowing a remote work environment with a hybrid working model, which was established 5 years before the pandemic hit. This allowed Aspiro Agency to thrive while others were figuring out how to pivot and reinvent their working model during that unprecedented time.
Having grown up in a household with both parents working and owning their own cosmetics company (which they successfully managed for 30+ years before exiting just a few years ago), Damon has always had a soft spot for small businesses.
Knowing firsthand the impact the right marketing strategy and execution can have on a small business and the families that they support, he was passionate about using Aspiro Agency to help other small businesses grow. He’s worked on super bowl campaigns, international brands and international campaigns — but to this day he says there’s nothing as rewarding as seeing a locally owned small business grow, hire new employees, and tangibly impact people's lives by helping businesses drive more traffic to their website and more conversions from there.
Aspiro in Action
Damon studied Latin in high school and college, and loved the language for a multitude of reasons. When forming Aspiro, he searched for Latin words that resonated with his definition and ideal for what Aspiro was envisioned to be. He barely got out of the “A” section of his Latin dictionary before stumbling on the word “aspiro” — a verb meaning insightful, aspire, to breathe into or blow on. Right away, that was the perfect fit. He believed the mission of his new marketing agency was to be insightful, aspirational, and help breathe new life into small businesses with the right marketing strategy! And the rest is history.
In 2024, Aspiro Agency celebrated its 10 year anniversary!
While the average client relationship for marketing agencies averages at 6 months to 1 year, most clients who use Aspiro average 2-3 years or more (with some clients who have been using Aspiro for 5+ years!). Their small but mighty team has been able to keep a solid book of loyal, happy clients beyond the industry averages by providing valuable insights and breathing new life into existing (or brand new) marketing strategies for businesses across the nation. Additionally, Damon Gochneaur owns the Denton Diablos minor league soccer team here in Denton, Texas. Their office location is coined “party in the front, business in the back” as a shared space with Aspiro Agency located on the Denton Square at 201 N. Austin St.
