Put Downtown Denton and Wassail Weekend on your "must do" list. Come downtown for the 17th Annual Wassail Fest on Dec. 4th and 5th. The festivities start Friday night during the Denton Holiday Lighting Festival and the tasting competition continues on Saturday afternoon.
What is Wassail Weekend? The Downtown Denton merchants will stir up their favorite recipes to compete for the coveted titles of King or Queen, Duke or Duchess, and Lord or Lady of Wassail. Wassail Fest, a tasting event held during annual Denton Holiday Lighting Festival on Friday, Dec. 4th, will also offer an afternoon of tastings and other holiday fun on Saturday, Dec. 5th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The expansion of hours for wassail tasting allows even more visitors to enjoy this downtown Denton tradition all weekend. The Wassail Stops, in various merchant locations around downtown, will be open Friday night, Dec. 4th from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Dec. 5th from 2 to 5 p.m., with some special activities. Tasting is free and open to all ages.
This year 38 restaurants, stores and business member locations around Downtown will participate. The list of Wassail Stops and online voting hashtags is available on the Events page of the website, www.dentonmainstreet.org. Paper ballots are also available at the stops and can be turned in at any stop. See the list below for each night:
