National Walking Day kicks off April 6th in Downtown Denton

A walkable downtown is a goal many Main Street programs across the country strive for and it involves a lot of planning.  It’s a great benefit to a downtown because it keeps the public moving on foot from shops to restaurants and other destinations in the district. Walking has numerous benefits, including creating that sense of place and community as you see familiar faces you pass or maybe have a conversation with someone new.  Overall, walking promotes good health and relieves stress – two very important issues to tackle in today’s fast-paced world.

Downtown Denton has become a walkable downtown over the past several years and parking lots throughout downtown offer many options for walking to your favorite establishment. So, it’s no wonder that National Walking Day on April 6 will kick off in Downtown Denton.  Seniors in Motion, located on Industrial Street, is committed to keep Denton moving and you can start on Wednesday in Downtown Denton. You and your friends or c-workers can join together a form a team. 

According to information given by Seniors in Motion, committing to walk for at least 30 minutes can help you get healthier and raise awareness about the importance of being physically active. On this day, millions of people throughout the United States will come together to take steps toward a healthier life for themselves, their families and their communities.
