Denton Main Street Association member, Oak Street Drafthouse, is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this month. Help us celebrate John Williams and his team’s accomplishments in Downtown Denton, and their continued growth and impact in our community.
Lighting Up the Dark Side of the Square
Lifetime local and UNT alumni, John Williams, didn’t just work for various Denton small businesses since he was a teenager (including Roman’s Pizza, Rockin’ R, Ruby’s Diner, Cool Beans, and Lucky Lou’s) — he also became one of the city’s most influential entrepreneurs that helped revitalize our beloved downtown district.
In 2012, John saw a historic home up for grabs on East Oak Street and knew it was the perfect location to turn his vision into reality: opening Denton's first beer garden, Oak Street Drafthouse.
Inspired by Austin’s famous Rainey Street district lined with houses-turned-bars, John and his loyal team turned one of Denton’s oldest homes into a patio bar, serving an extensive tap room with over 70 beers on draft (and 100 in the bottle!).
10 Years Later…
Come celebrate 10 years of Denton’s OG beer garden and patio bar, Oak Street Drafthouse on Sunday, March 13th from 11am to 8pm!
They will be closing down the street to allow for safe pedestrian walking and additional seating. You’ll enjoy food trucks (including Feta’s Gyros and Spicy Tails Crawfish), live music, drink specials, special tappings, a photo booth, and an opportunity to buy OSDH anniversary t-shirts and live print t-shirts from Pan Ector Industries!
To this day (and despite the pandemic), the vast majority of his original team have remained key employees and stakeholders in the continued success of John's entrepreneurial journey. That success included the opening of East Side and Miss Angelines, and a new partnership with Dan’s Silver Leaf.

If you didn’t hear the exciting news, John Williams and his team have partnered with Dan’s Silverleaf to help keep the live music scene thriving in Downtown Denton!
