Recap: Arts & Autos 2017 Extravaganza

Last Saturday's Arts & Autos Extravaganza was a huge success! It was the largest show ever held in the event's history, with nearly 10,000 people out to see the fabulous display of classic, hot rod, vintage and custom cars, trucks and motorcycles around the historic Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square.

Live music by The Gumbo Brothers, The Silvertones, and The Lowdown entertained the crowds throughout the day as they wandered through vendor booths, watched local artists and crafters demonstrating their craft, or selected their favorite piece from any one of them selling hand-made jewelry, pottery, paintings, prints, sketches, and more.  Children were kept busy, too, as they played games, got their faces painted, drew with chalk on the Chalk Car, or received a free hand-turned wooden car from the Golden Triangle Woodturners.

Chalk Fest took over the sidewalks of West Oak and Cedar streets this year with more than 90 artists ranging from ages 4 to 18 and older.  Watch soon for a post on those fantastic drawings from the top 3 winners of the 4 age categories.  Denton's artist talent is abundant and this event offers a canvas that lasts for days after the event.

The biggest feature of the show was of course more than 260 vehicles that registered in the car show, the biggest registration count yet, and 84 trophies were given to happy winners at the end of the show.  Check out all the winners of the numerous classes below. Congratulations to the Best of Show Car, Truck and Motorcycle winners and all the winners of the 2017 Arts & Autos Extravaganza!
