Recap: Downtown Denton Wassail Weekend 2016

We had an excellent time during Wassail Weekend and Denton Holiday Lighting Festival this year. Despite the rainy forecast, it was clear that our community wasn't quite ready to give up on one of our favorite Denton holiday weekends of the year. We've put together a quick little recap of the weekend's festivities for you, a mere scroll away!

Our volunteers were out in full force throughout the weekend, gathering paper ballots, ensuring businesses had cups, among many other tasks necessary to keep our Wassail Weekend moving! Beth Lewis and Christine Gossett were amicable and excited for the exceptional turn out both evenings. The immense amount of paper ballots was tell-tale in itself of just how many Dentonites turned out for the holiday weekend.

Thanks to these ladies and the power of social media, the Denton Main Street Association were able to effectively determine our Wassail winners. Our 2016 Wassail Weekend victors were as follows:

Dukes of Wassail: i <3 Denton

Lady of Wassail: Dark Age Tattoo Studio

Queen of Wassail: Discover Denton

2016 has been a year of growth, transition and change not only on a national scale, but at the local level as well. People come and go, places change; we evolve. However, it's safe to say that Denton still hasn't lost its small-town, local neighborhood feel. We're lucky to live in a city full of individuals who'll battle, rain, wind and cold for the chance to support their local business, all in the name of Apple Cider. Happy Holidays, Denton. 2016 looks great on you!
