Denton Main Street Association proudly presents the 20th annual Arts & Autos in Downtown Denton on Saturday, September 14th, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. around the square and beyond, 110 W. Hickory Street. We are so excited to bring this classic event back to the good people of Denton. For those of you who’ve never been, let’s take a quick dive into the history, surrounding events, and more facets that make Arts and Autos such an exciting time.
Denton residents and lovers of Denton from far and wide love a good excuse to get out and enjoy a trip around our Downtown Denton district, especially if it means supporting local business and appreciating hard work while they’re at it. All the while, with the whole family in tow. Approximately 10,000 attendees check out hot rods, classic and custom cars, trucks and even motorcycles! Around 75+ trophies are given out in car, truck and motorcycle classes. Several of the specialty trophies are custom-made by local artists who create awesome trophies that are an amazing re-use of old car parts to create works of art that are treasured by the lucky winners. Plus, cash prizes for Best of Show winner in car, truck and motorcycle class.
On top of autos, check out our Chalk Fest, fine arts and crafts vendors, kids crafts and games, a silent auction and live music! Because what is an Arts and Autos, without the Art? Art thrives in Downtown Denton, and we love to show off the amazing talent and future Arts Walk of Famers to the world. Artists of all ages create unique works of art using two simple tools: sidewalk and chalk. Winners receive cash prizes, and local notoriety as top contender in the art scene.
As you peruse the eclectic selection of vintage, souped up autos, you might catch a strolling musician along the way, local musicians eager to lend some tunes and put a pep in your step. For example, it could be a quartet playing on the sidewalk or strolling acoustic guitarists entertaining the masses. In addition, live music from the lawn will begin at 10 am and goes throughout the day until the awards ceremony begins at 2:30 pm. It’s amazing what a little music can do to really enhance the overall Denton experience. It’s like a fairytale at every turn, who could complain?!

Speaking of the Arts Walk of Fame, you can help Denton Main Street mark the next famed artists’ stones by bidding on items in the Silent Auction during the event. Packages featuring downtown merchant products, entertainment, dining packages and more will be up for bid during the event inside the courthouse. All proceeds will benefit the Denton Main Street Foundation, which supports the Arts Walk of Fame.
