Denton is celebrating Small Business Saturday in a BIG way. Small businesses in shopping centers throughout Denton are participating and downtown Denton has more than 40 places you can shop and dine on to support #ShopSmallDenton on Saturday, November 25th.
Since 2010, customers and small businesses alike have been able to kick-start their holiday shopping season on a day celebrating the uniqueness, charm and economic impact that small businesses bring to communities nationwide. Recognized as Small Business Saturday – the Saturday following Thanksgiving each year – this celebratory day was founded to encourage consumers across the country to support local, small businesses within their hometowns and beyond.
This event is sponsored by the City of Denton Economic Development Department’s Shop Here On Purpose (SHOP) Denton program in coordination with the Denton Main Street Association and the Denton Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
Why is it important to support small businesses? It’s simple – these small businesses are locally owned and operated and employ local citizens. This means they go back and spend money locally contributing to the local economy which benefits the community in many ways. These businesses also support and sponsor countless non-profits, community events, teams and causes adding to the quality of life in Denton.
Shop small and win! Enter the contest.
A selfie contest throughout the day makes you eligible for some great prizes, so check out the rules and guidelines for this on the SHOP Denton event page.
Downtown Denton has a high concentration of locally-owned shops, restaurants, salons and service companies and they are the reason this area is revitalized and vibrant. Shop small and support these and other small businesses in Denton. A complete list of participating small businesses in downtown is available on the Events page for Shop Small Saturday and city-wide participants are on Facebook at the Shop Denton Texas page.
