Wassail Fest is this weekend

There are 40 Wassail Stops during this year's Wassail Fest, so make plans to start Friday night and come back on Saturday to finish the route.  In addition to offering FREE wassail tastings during the annual Denton Holiday Lighting Festival on Friday, Dec. 5th from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown Denton, some Denton Main Street Association (DMSA) merchants will also serve more wassail tastings on Saturday, Dec. 6th from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Downtown merchants stirring up their favorite Wassail recipes will vary, so look for the Wassail Stop signs to know where to go on Friday and/or Saturday and list on the Events page of this site. Download a map.

Tasting is free and open to all ages.

The Saturday Wassail Fest activities will include: great wassail tasting, shopping and dining in downtown’s businesses, musicians and choral groups in various locations around downtown and wassail stops, and a visit and photo opportunity with Santa in front of “Bonnie”, a 1960’s retro camper courtesy of Denton Design Company. Bring your camera! Santa will be at the corner of Oak and Locust streets.

The public can cast their vote for their favorite Wassail on Friday evening during Denton’s annual Holiday Lighting Festival, OR on Saturday during the expanded Wassail Fest between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.. Ballots will be available at all participating Wassail Stops and may be dropped at ANY ballot box at ANY Wassail Stop.  Those who turn in complete ballots are eligible for door prizes from participating merchants. And, watch for contests on the Denton Main Street Association's Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

“Due to the overwhelming success of Holiday Lighting, and to further enhance downtown Denton's holiday-related festivities, Denton Main Street Association is excited to announce that Wassail Fest will expand to the Saturday following Holiday Lighting. In cooperation with the Holiday Lighting Committee, we're excited to provide people the opportunity to partake in expanded weekend holiday activities in a more relaxed atmosphere. This move will further and complement the already special destination Denton experience!” said Monte Jensen, president of the Denton Main Street Association.

Numerous events from performing arts and live music to festivals and special events will happen in the next several weeks, so check out all that downtown Denton has to offer and come celebrate the season!
