First Friday is the first stop for art fun and shopping this February. The West Oak Street shops and galleries, including A Creative Art Studio and SCRAP, are the hosts every first Friday of the month offering a night full of music, art demos, exhibits and shopping, along with some refreshments and good company. Other downtown galleries joining First Friday on February 7th, include UNT Gallery on the Square, 109 Elm Street, and The DIME Store, 510 S. Locust Street.
So what else is going on with First Friday this month? A Creative Art STUDIO is doing a Steampunk event complete with a Steampunk fashion costume contest and a prize for the best outfit. They will also have four artists featuring metal, beading, gelatin prints and steampunk jewelry displays, as well as two live musicians. Thin Line Film Music Festival showcases award-winning documentaries , short films, live music and more in various downtown Denton venues over 5 days, February 12-16. Celebrate Mardi Gras on Walnut this Friday, February 28, from 5 p.m to 11 p.m. The festive activities will be located at the 100 block of Walnut Street between Elm and Locust.
